On August 27, the Bundesliga Dortmund Club officially announced that it would sign Chelsea midfielder Chukuemeca. According to previous media reports, the transfer fee is 25 million euros.
Chukuemeca is only 21 years old. In the summer window of 2022, Villa joined Chelsea for 18 million euro transfer fee. During his time with the Blues, he played 32 games, contributing 2 goals and 1 assist. After the winter window last season, he loaned Dortmund, playing for the team in 17 games and contributing 1 goal.
Dortmond's official announcement stated that
Dortmond Football Club signed Chukuuemeca from Chelsea Football Club. The 21-year-old played for Dortmund as a loan player in the second half of last season and during the Club World Cup, and now he has signed a long-term contract with the eight-time Bundesliga champions until June 30, 2030.
"It is very important for us to improve the ability and creativity of the offensive midfield. We are excited to have a long-term contract with a talent like Carney, and now we can work together to help him grow," said Dortmund Football Club General Manager Russ Ricken.
"Carney has great potential, and he has shown that in the second half of our team's season. He is able to constantly find solutions in tight spaces to play a major role and add an extra football element to our midfield, which is very beneficial to us," said Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kyle.
Last season, Chukuemeca played 17 official games for Dortmund (scoring 1 goal) and will retain his No. 17 jersey. He said: "It feels great to be a member of Dortmund. Over the past few months, I have gradually learned about the club, coaches, teammates and fans, and I am very happy that Dortmund has become the new home of my football career. I will do my best to help the team achieve our goals."
