According to the latest news from the Italian Football League, AC Milan has been approved to play a Serie A game with Como in Perth, Australia next year. If the plan is implemented smoothly, this will be the first time in Serie A's history that an official competition has been held outside Italy.

According to the original schedule, this game coincides with the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics on February 6, 2026. Therefore, the European football giant had to find another venue, and instead of choosing a European neighbor, they turned their attention to Australia on the other end of the earth.

Although this plan has caused a lot of controversy, many fans strongly opposed it. Some fans criticized sharply: "Spend so much money just to hold such a farce? You are simply making the whole world laugh, it's so sad." Some people questioned: "In Australia, who cares about Milan's match against Cuomo?"

It is worth mentioning that AC Milan just visited Western Australia not long ago. They played a preseason warm-up match with Perth Glory on July 31 at HBF Park Stadium. The strength of the two sides was very different in the game, and the Red and Black Army easily won 9-0.

Previously, La Liga also tried to schedule Barcelona to play Atletico Madrid in Miami, but it was cancelled last year due to timing issues. In 2019, Barcelona also planned to move their match against Girona to Miami, USA, but gave up due to strong opposition from the Spanish Football Association and the Players' Union.

In contrast, the Premier League has made it clear on many occasions that there is currently no plan to move the official match overseas.

It is worth noting that Australia transferred from the Oceania Football Federation (OFC) to the Asian Football Federation (AFC) in 2006. Therefore, if AC Milan is in this game, it will be the first time that a Serie A tournament has been held in the AFC member states, which is of special significance.
