October 16 According to reports from the German media sport1 website, Dortmund wants to keep Schlotterbeck, but is also mentally prepared to fail in renewing his contract.

Schlotterbeck's contract with Dortmund expires in 2027, and his current valuation in the transfer market is 40 million euros. Dortmund attaches great importance to Schlotterbeck, and the club has been making every effort to renew his contract. It is no longer a secret that Dortmund plans to appoint Schlotterbeck as captain next summer, and also intends to double his salary (Schlotterbeck's current annual salary is 4.72 million euros before tax), making him one of the highest-paid players in the team. It stands to reason that this level of attention cannot be increased, but Schlotterbeck is still hesitant. This attitude makes Dortmund executives mentally prepared to fail to renew his contract.

Dortmund sports director Ricken said in an interview a few days ago: "(Regarding the fact that Schloterbeck has not yet reached a contract extension), we will not panic, but we obviously do not want to delay it indefinitely. This is clear to everyone."
