According to the latest news, Spanish veteran and former Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta has confirmed that he will leave Atletico Madrid this summer. This also means that the FIFA Club World Cup held in the United States in 2025 will be his last event for the Bedding Team.

Has not won the championship for two years and is eager to make a final move

Since joining Atletico Madrid from Chelsea in 2023, Azpilicueta has made a total of 54 appearances and scored 1 goal in the past two seasons. Despite his experience and steady defense, he has never been able to help the team win any championship trophy.

In an interview, the 35-year-old defender expressed his desire for honor:

"I hope to win a championship before leaving Atletico Madrid. If this wish can be realized, it will be the best farewell gift in my career."

He also talked about the upcoming Club World Cup:

"This will be a very exciting and competitive event. The competition system has also been reformed this year, and we are all looking forward to participating in it. I am very happy to have a chance to compete for a championship for Malaysia."

In this Club World Cup, Atletico Madrid will face the new Champions League champion Paris Saint-Germain in the first round, and will then face Brazilian team Botafogo and Major League team Seattle Gulfmen respectively.

For the upcoming opponent, Azpilicueta said:

"Our goal is to achieve good results from the group stage. The game time is compact, and every detail is crucial."

Speaking of the game against Paris Saint-Germain, he said:

"It is an honor to be able to fight Paris, who just won the triple-champion, but it is also a huge test. Although they performed averagely in the Champions League group stage last season , but their performance in defeating Inter Milan in the final was impressive. "

"They will definitely participate in the Club World Cup with great confidence, but we don't have to be afraid of them. This event is brand new, and Paris, like us, will start from scratch."

According to Fabricio Romano, a famous Italian transfer expert, Azpilicueta is likely not to leave La Liga, but will switch to his hometown team - Galicia's Vigo Celta.

He has received a formal offer from Celta and has shown great interest in the team's current development plan. It is expected that both sides will officially complete the signing after the end of the Club World Cup.
