Collimore: As long as Liverpool can handle the transfer in a low-key manner, I believe Wilz will succeed

June 17, Liverpool's former player Collimore recently accepted an interview with the Echo, hoping that the club can handle the huge transfer deal signed by Wilz in a low-key manner.

Liverpool is about to complete a record transfer deal to sign German international Wilz from Leverkusen. The transfer fee is expected to reach £116 million, including a base fee of £100 million and an additional clause of £16 million, which will make Wilz the most expensive player in Liverpool's history.

Collimore said: "When a player joins a club like Liverpool, he will definitely feel nervous and uneasy. I hope the club can downplay the impact of the transfer fee and not announce it with great fanfare like Manchester United."

Collimore believes that although the transfer fee is very high, Liverpool does not need to show his financial resources in this way: "I think Liverpool has done a full investigation and they believe that Wiltz is a player worthy of this investment. The most important thing is that Wiltz really wants to join Liverpool, which is an important decision for him."

Collimore also Referring to his experience of joining Liverpool for £8.5 million in 1995: "The transfer fee was also a record in England, but I think fans are accustomed to the high transfer fee. Now people are more concerned about the performance of the players, not the amount of the transfer fee."

Collimore suggested that Liverpool try to be low-key when announcing the joining of Wilz to avoid overemphasizing the transfer fee: "As long as the club can handle it in a low-key manner, I believe Wilz can succeed in Liverpool. Liverpool has a long history and they are able to develop legendary players like Salah and Mane."
